"We lost pressure..."

After the first day of qualification was canceled for the never ending "English rain" we got at least two changes to get qualified on Sunday. We did our first run down the quarter mile with a soft set up and managed a 6,47/215,43 miles, what was at that point good for the 7th spot. With this we was placed in front of Melanie Troxel. I have truly to say that this was something very special. If some body asked me a few years ago about my drag racing future I wasn´t thinking to run one day in my live the same class (and even at the same event) as some of my racing heroes from the US!

Before the second round of qualifying we lost oil pressure during the warm up. We was running a bit out of time at that point, so we decided to tow to the starting line and try it. After the burn out I saw the oil pressure falling down on the gauge, but I decided to go for it to secure our top 16 finish. The car was out off the grove a few times so I had to click it of after the 1/8 mile. With this we ended up 11th in the qualification list. We was happy with this even when you see we saw 29 entries this weekend  with many very competitive Pro Mod cars.

We worked until 4:00 a clock at morning to fix our oil pressure problem. But we didn´t found any bad parts at that point. When we did our warm up Monday morning we was faced with the same problem. Oil pressure was going down after 60 sec. We decided ones more to tow to the starting line and do the burn out, stage, and hope Mike Gullquist will make a mistake and go at red. After I saw his green I had to shut off the engine because of this bright red oil pressure warning lamp in front of me!

In 3 weeks we have to go to Finland to run the second FIA round. For this we have to work hard on the engine to get this problem fixed in time.
